Big Johnson Blues Band broke into the capitol region blues scene in January 2001. Having received local radio, television play and an award from WZMR 104.9 as "Best New Blues Band 2001" the band's influence on the local scene drew the attention of local blues publications and netted an invitation to the NE Blues Colossal Contenders competition and on to the 2003 Fleet Blues Festival.
In 2004 the band's line up changed leaving 4 original members and including two new talents, lead singer John McNamara and Robert Krull on keyboards. In 2007 the band introduced Bruce Gautie on drums,
as the newest member to join the Big Johnson lineup.
Combining traditional and contemporary blues with some of their signature originals Big Johnson Blues Band shows continue to pound out a fist full of blues.
